Friendship...Part 2

Vivian, Louisiana
(humid.green.bugs)
Well, strange turn of events last week - after I wrote my "Friendship" post last Wednesday about how my friend & I haven't been able to figure out a time when we'd be able to meet up, that same friend sent me a text saying he'd found out that a few of his buddies were headed down to Louisiana to pick up some boats to take to sell back home in Montana...and he had decided to come along for the ride. Long story short, they were only going to be 3hrs away from Dallas! While we both knew we'd only get to see each other for a few hours, a few hours was better than nothing at all, especially when we were going to be so much closer than when he's home in Montana & I'm here in Dallas.
So, on Sunday night, Stella & I packed up the car & drove to Vivian, Louisiana...ever heard of it? I hadn't before we decided to drive there...needless to say, there are lots of bugs & the hotel was something else entirely, haha! There aren't exactly options when it came to where to stay in Vivian, but when we got there, there was one thing for sure: NO PETS ALLOWED - $200 FINE! We didn't even ask about the dog situation - his buddies had brought their dog as well & of course, we weren't going to leave them to sleep in the truck all night... They put us all on the 2nd floor so we had to figure out how to get the dogs to the rooms without getting caught...that was entertaining! Thankfully Stella's used to being carried like the needy little "child" she is, so I just wrapped her in a blanket & pretended she was a sleeping kid...the other dog on the other hand, they snuck him in in a suitcase, haha!
10 hours. That was it. But it was absolutely worth it getting to spend time with him. Stella loved him & she was pretty sad when they left & we headed back to Dallas. It says a lot about a friendship when you can go so long without actually seeing each other in person, but be able to pick things up right where you left of the last time you were together. Who knows when we'll get the chance to see each other again now that he's still making the 28hr drive back to Montana with his buddies & the new boats, but thank goodness for text messaging!
As for the rest of the weekend, Saturday was spent in the car as well, driving to/from Tyler, Texas, where I had to pick up whatever "prize" I'd won from some giveaway at the Dallas Stars game back in January. Since I'd waited so long to pick it up, I had to drive out to Tyler - where the home "office" is - to pick it up in person...I can't believe I won anything in the first place but for that "prize" to be 2 trips, I'm amazed! So, sometime over the next year, I'll be taking a cruise to the Bahamas (or Mexico...I have the choice of either one but I'd rather do the Bahamas) AND a trip to either Aruba, Oahu, Maui, or Puerto Rico...I'm thinking Puerto Rico's the winner there too! Now to find a traveling buddy!
Saturday night...that was a great night! Saturday was two of my teammates' birthdays (who happen to be a couple as well) so they'd been planning to have a party together at a club downtown...what better reason to wear sky-high heels & a new outfit? Haha! It reminded me of my TLU Soccer days & the fun outings we'd go on way back when :) Lots of dancing, a few too many drinks for some, but definitely a night to remember!
Now if only I could catch up on the sleep I missed having to be up early for soccer on Sunday (only 3hrs of sleep there) & then sleeping with Stella in Louisiana (ZERO sleep there, she had too much fun bouncing from one bed to the other & sharing snuggles...that's what happens whe you can't bring the kennel into the "NO PETS ALLOWED" hotel, haha).
