I've gotten really bad about posting - there's just so much going on lately that it's hard to find the time...unless I get a spare moment at work & that rarely happens these days, too! But, here I am, I'm back, just in time for the first day of spring...and my childhood friend, Hannah's, 27th birthday!
This is us on one of our first soccer teams 21 years ago, haha! Wow we're getting old! I think the thing that gets me the most with this picture is that the soccer fields we played on when we were that young could probably fit 6 of today's soccer fields that 6-yr-olds use in it! So glad I learned to play soccer in Houston & not with the organizations they have today where everyone wins, haha! I'm entirely too competitive for that!
The week after V-Day, this happened...
...from coughing too much, I strained muscles in my neck.
Apparently you can cough so hard that you strain neck muscles, but of course, being the medical anomaly that my family is, it only occured on one side (it's seen happening with muscles on both sides of the neck more often than not), so [enter freak out mode]: they immediately suspected meningitis & mono - yes, you can get mono more than once, too! I've already had mono once & had the meningitis shot before going to college in 2004 & it should still be working! Thankfully all tests came back negative for meningitis & mono & after muscle relaxers, anti-inflammatories & lots of ice/heat, my neck finally went back to normal after nearly 2 weeks. I swear, 2013 started off with a bang...just not the good kind, haha!
Since I had my neck issue, that meant sitting out more soccer games, including my first outdoor game of the season, on such a pretty day.
It's so hard for me to be a spectator! I've had to sit out & watch 9 games this year & I haven't missed that many games in years!
Let's see, what else has happened these past few weeks. Oh ya! Alex & I went to Kinlee's first soccer game...it went like this:
Leighton wanted to play...
...much more than Kinlee did...
...she wanted to kick the ball with her Lindsay Wow Wow (apparently that's my new name now :) ) as long as she didn't have to go on the field.
We did finally get her to go out & try to play...
...but that lasted all of about 1 minute because "they won't listen to me, Ali!!!!"
She's actually really good, too! She's got a little leg on her & she uses both feet...I have a feeling Leighton will be the sporty one though, only 15 months & dribbles like a pro ;) Kinlee's next game is this weekend so we'll see how it goes!
Last weekend was St. Patty's Day & although there wasn't much in the way of drinking (for me at least), we had a blast! Saturday morning, Michelle & I ran the Dash Down Greenville, along with over 10,000 other people, but it was so much fun & we kicked butt too, considering the lack of training we'd had for this race too!
Finished in the top 20% & dropped nearly 5 minutes from my last 5k in 2012 - not bad at all!
We also had Peanut's Pre-Birfday Bash so that Mishy could get one last celebration in before Skyla makes her debut any day now!
Michelle & I had so much fun making Peanut & Mishy matching 'stache outfits, haha!
This picture would've been much better...if I didn't have a hotdog in my mouth :-P
And, as usual, finished the weekend off with more soccer - watching Alex play - he may be 34, but he's still got "ups" (his words, not mine, haha)!
This weekend should be an interesting one - Alex & I get a crash course in parenting when Kristin leaves the girls with us for the weekend, haha! They say one of the biggest challenges in a relationship is adding kids to the mix - I'd say we've got this one covered: the girls love their Ali, we both love the girls & I've got my lifeguard/CPR experiences just in case ;) Can't wait to see these little buddies again!
There will definitely be plenty to blog about after this weekend :)
