Day 3: Your First Love

I would say my first love was probably Nick Dollarhide when I was 6...but that's a childhood crush & well, we know that it's very rare that anything comes from that, haha! Nick is still one of my good friends, but I don't see things going beyond friendship for the two of us & that's fine :)

Childhood crushes aside, I have say that my first real love would be this guy:

To this day, he still means the world to me & we do still talk frequently. He treated me better than any guy had before him or even since we dated 6 years ago (it's so weird to think that it really was 2006 when we were together, amazing how fast time flies & how much things have changed!). When we met, I had been dating someone back "home" & so he knew we'd just be friends...well that changed very quickly since there was definitely something between us. We flirted at work, but that was all it was until things ended with my relationship back home. He knew how much I dislike Valentine's Day - with or without having a significant other, I just don't like that day, but still My Buddy surprised me at work on Valentine's Day (in front of the ENTIRE restaurant we worked at) with flowers & a stuffed lion, that I still have to this day :) I was so embarrassed to have all that attention, but he won me over that night. Everything changed after that. We spent lots of time together & he even came home with me to Colorado for spring break that year to meet my family! It was all of the little things he did that won me over. Having to say goodbye to him was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do because it wasn't by choice, if it was, my choice would've been to have stayed in Seguin/New Braunfels instead of leaving him.

I've watched as he grew into this amazing man & how having his son in 2010 turned him into such a proud Daddy to Piglet. His little man comes first in his life & seeing him as a Dad is such a sweet thing, knowing just how "tough" he used to be, haha! He has a sweet girlfriend now who's taken it upon herself to make it a point to get to know me because she knows the the friendship that he & I have is still very important for both of us. I'm honestly impressed & she's won me over too, even though we've actually never met face to face :) I want nothing more than for him to be happy, regardless of who he ends up with. He deserves to be loved by a "significant other" as much as he loves Piglet.

So...ya...that's my first love, haha!
