I have always loved to write. English (and math) was my best subject all throughout school & when you enjoy it, why stop? My love for writing, although not many people understand why, is also my best way of communicating in "relationships" - relationships with family, friends, significant others, etc. I tend to have a short temper & saying things in the heat of the moment isn't the best way to react, I know that all too well, but I also tend to keep a lot of my feelings & emotions inside because if someone doesn't know, they can't break my heart...right? In reality, the reason why I write is solely because I can get everything out at once. I have a chance to put my thoughts together & think about what's going on. Occasionally I'll write first rather than verbally fight/argue with someone because it also gives both sides a little time to cool off. When I was younger, my dad & I would argue & my first reaction: silence. We made a conscious choice that we knew we'd wind up hurting each other if things didn't change...so we wrote each other letters when we were upset. We'd give them to each other the day after there was a disagreement, we'd read them (on our own) & then we'd talk about it. By the time we talked about it, we both knew what the other person's "side" was & had a chance to get things resolved without some big blow up if we'd just argued about it at the very beginning.
Aaaaand that really has nothing to do with why I keep a blog, haha! I keep a blog because I kept a journal when I was younger & even now, I like to go back through them & see the kinds of things that I was going through & how I felt. With a blog, although it's not a physical copy of a journal, it gives me the chance to go back through events in my life that I may have forgotten down the road. The hardest part - not really my least favorite part but I'll count it that way - is just remembering to update, especially with my 30 day challenge. I still love doing it though!
