TLU Women's Soccer 2004

There have been quite a few "changing moments" in my life, but I think the one that has made the biggest impact on me was the day I had to leave TLU & move back to Colorado. I'd made so many great friends - for once, I actually had "girl" friends...for those that know me, you know that's really a first. But those girls are still some of my favorite people 8 years later & wouldn't have it any other way.
Leaving TLU was not by choice. If I had it my way, I would've stayed there all 4 years, but I knew I couldn't afford it & my parents weren't going to fund it either, so I had to say goodbye, pack up & leave my life & the great friends that I'd made in the two years I'd spent in good ol' Seguin, Texas, home of the "world's largest pecan"...well, that's what they claim at least, haha!
I won't lie, I was on academic probation (I could not for the life of me pass philosophy - even after the third time I took it) my last year at TLU & it was tough. I had way too much fun my freshman year - it's no surprise, it happens to a lot of freshman because you're away from your parents & "on your own" for the first time & school took the back burner. But I paid for that when I transferred to MSCD in 2006...and started what should've been my junior year of college as a FRESHMAN. That alone was enough to motivate me to get my sh*t together & put school before "play". It motivated me to work my butt off, dispite being a freshman again. I basically ended up completing 4 years of college in 2.5 years. I took 18 credits fall 2006, spring & fall 2007 & spring & fall 2008. I took 12 credits each summer from 2006 thru 2008 & with my TLU credits transferring solely as elective hours, I was able to graduate only a semester later than I would have if I was on the right path in the first place, with a Bachelor's Degree in Management in December 2008.
I wouldn't change the times I had at TLU for anything but I wouldn't be where I am now if I hadn't had to leave.
